Bing was launched under Beta tag in the UK. Microsoft at that time promised to remove the tag only under one condition i.e if its experience would be different from the competition and if the results would be outperforming in terms of UK relevancy.

The Bing team reached its objective on November 12, 2009 and the credit goes to London-based Search Technology Center. Microsoft says that 60 engineers behind the project in Soho have done extensive job at localizing the Bing global experience for the UK users in just 5 months. The team worked under the direction of Jordi Ribas’ has done a miraculous job by crunching historical algorithmic results for identifying local intents and including them in the Bing’s categorized search.

Basically, the team collaborated with local partners for including highly relevant information in the search results that would meet the requirements of the consumer. You will now have better search experience with Bing.

In case you are more interested in football, you just have to type the name of your favorite Premiership team and Bing will provide you with Instant Answers. The credit for this goes to SkySports.

This is not all! The engineers have also enriched the index with UK Urls and updated the algorithms to cope up with information like local abbreviations, acronyms, partial postcodes and British misspelling etc.

With all the updates and intensive work, Bing is now out of Beta and Britishers will be able to make more informed choices with it.

The new upgradation is beneficial for advertisers also. With better and more organized results, Bing will provide more qualified traffic to advertisers. Because it has the combination of adCenter’s unique targeting capabilities, Bing will ensure that right advertising message reaches the right consumer and thus wasted clicks is reduced.

The superior quality of Bing’s traffic has also been confirmed by latest Nielsen NetRatings results. It has been observed that the searchers visiting a site from Bing are 25% more interested and engaged in the website than the average searcher. The conversion results are also 50% more on that website.

Bing team said that it will be offering more new search experience to the users in the coming days.
